Michael Bates Chevrolet Supports Chevrolet Step Up For Kids Shoe Drive

At Michael Bates Chevrolet, being part of the community means more than helping drivers find their next vehicle. Our team is proud to participate in Chevrolet Detroit Dealers’ Step Up For Kids shoe drive, a community initiative focused on providing new shoes, boots, and socks to children in need throughout Metro Detroit.

Running from September 1 through September 30, the Step Up For Kids campaign brings Chevrolet dealerships and local communities together to collect new footwear donations. The campaign partners with Lace Up Detroit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping provide new shoes and boots to children and families throughout Southeast Michigan.

Helping Local Kids Take Their Next Step With Confidence

A new pair of shoes can provide more than everyday comfort. For many children, having a new pair of properly fitting shoes can help them feel prepared for school, activities, and daily experiences.

Through the Step Up For Kids shoe drive, community members have the opportunity to donate new shoes and socks that will directly support children in need. These donations help provide essential footwear while giving kids something they can feel confident wearing throughout the school year.

Chevrolet Equinox

2027 Chevrolet Equinox: Family Space Without the Unnecessary Bulk

T he 2027 Chevrolet Equinox seats 5 passengers, measures 183.2 inches long, provides up to 63.5 cu. ft. of cargo capacity, and offers AWD without requiring buyers to move into a 3-row SUV. For families around Woodhaven, MI, its appeal isn't one spectacular specification. It's that the dimensions, technology, safety equipment, and three-trim lineup have been arranged into a package of quite manageable proportions. Two Rows Can Be Quite Enough When They're Properly Packaged The Equinox provides 39.9 inches of rear legroom, which is a more useful family statistic than simply knowing there are 5 seat belts. The 60/40 split-folding rear seat also means longer cargo can be carried without automatically evicting everyone from row two. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are standard, particularly welcome during a Michigan winter, while available Evotex seating surfaces provide another option for a cabin expected to encounter children, pets, food, and everything else families inevitably bring aboard. The point isn't extravagance. It's making 2 rows work properly. The Cargo Area Has Been Designed Beyond the Basic Measurement Fold the rear seats and the Equinox provides up to 63.5 cu. ft. of cargo capacity. More interesting is the hidden storage beneath the rear cargo floor, because families tend to carry plenty of smaller objects that don't benefit from rolling freely around a large empty boot. Emergency supplies and other everyday items can live below the floor rather than competing with groceries or luggage. The available hands-free AutoSense Power Liftgate adds another practical feature, automatically opening when the key fob is detected behind the vehicle. Two Large Displays, but It's Their Functions That Count Every 2027 Equinox receives an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen and an 11-inch Driver Information Center. Screen dimensions alone tell us remarkably little about a car, so the useful details are what they provide. Google built-in compatibility brings Google Maps, Google Assistant, and compatible apps into the vehicle, while wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility allow occupants to use familiar smartphone functions. Available wireless charging can remove another cable from the center console. Families comparing new Equinox trims should therefore look beyond display size and consider how the connectivity fits their normal journeys. The Safety List Is Substantial Before You Start Adding Options Chevrolet equips the Equinox with more than 15 standard safety and driver-assistance features. These include Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, and Intelli Beam ®. Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Park Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking, and an HD Rear Vision Camera are also standard. Available HD Surround Vision adds camera coverage that can be particularly useful in crowded car parks. These remain assistance systems, of course; the driver remains responsible for controlling the vehicle. LT, ACTIV, and RS Aren't Simply Three Versions of the Same Decoration LT establishes the core package with the dual displays and heated front seats. ACTIV changes the specification more meaningfully, adding 17-inch machined wheels with all-terrain tires, uniquely tuned suspension, and Evotex and sueded microfiber seating. RS heads in another direction with 19-inch wheels, black exterior detailing, and available 20-inch wheels. AWD is available across the lineup. ACTIV is therefore the interesting choice for buyers expecting more travel away from pavement, while RS concentrates more heavily on appearance. The Powertrain Keeps Its Ambitions Sensible The 1.5L T urbocharged 4-cylinder produces 175 hp, with FWD models using a CVT and AWD versions receiving an 8-speed automatic and producing up to 203 lbs. ft. of torque. Properly equipped AWD models can tow up to 1,500 lbs. Nobody needs to pretend those are sports-car figures. They're more relevant for merging, family travel, poor-weather traction, and pulling a suitably sized trailer. Michael Bates Chevrolet can help Woodhaven-area shoppers compare the entire Equinox inventory, LT, ACTIV, and RS models, available AWD, financing, and trade-in options.
